“Life’s persistent and most urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'”
—Martin Luther King Jr.
I participated in the King Day of Service today, which was co-sponsored by Boston Cares. It was amazing to see hundreds of people making cat beds for the MSPCA, bookmarks for the Boston Public Library, dental kits for homeless shelters, flashcards for city school students, and Valentine’s Day cards for the troops overseas and for local homebound people with lifelong illnesses. I spent the whole time making Valentine’s Day cards.
I was talking up Boston Cares with people at my table. It is such a great concept to give people access to volunteer opportunities with absolutely no time commitment required. I’ve been involved for a year now. It has been fulfilling in many ways.
