Well, I have just experienced my first occupational hazard as a copy editor. No, I didn’t poke my eye with a red pen.
I have overworked my left pinky. Don’t snort…it really hurts!
For the past few days, I have been editing a 100+ page document online. Most of the sentences are run-on. Enter my poor left pinky, repetitively holding down the shift key as I cut sentences in half and initial cap the first word of the new sentence. Now I am engaging in some kind of finger gymnastics on the keyboard as I try to type without using my left pinky.
I am curious…how many people utilize both shift keys on the keyboard when capitalizing words? I don’t think I have ever used the shift key on the right side of the keyboard. Maybe now is the time to start.
in the rare event i do capitalize (ha), i use both shift keys. thank you 9th grade typing class.
You do use both shift keys! Interesting. I don’t think I took a typing class…if I did, I blocked it out!
