Wrist still sprained. Sigh.
Weather has been crappy all week. Sigh. I think sunnier days are ahead though.
Post-birthday list, my life is returning to “normal”…whatever that means. Well, at the very least it means that I watch more movies.
I saw two movies this week. I saw Moonrise Kingdom in the theater. I was quite excited since Wes Anderson is one of my favorite directors. I enjoyed it, but didn’t love it. The plot didn’t grab me as much as his other movies’ plots have. But the dialogue was as quirky and witty as ever. And the cast was incredible as usual: Bruce Willis, Ed Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Bob Balaban. The young actors were quite talented as well. I always delight in his films’ soundtracks. One of the reasons I dig him is that the music he (or his team) chooses is practically another character in the films.
I rented A Better Life. I was curious about this man who was nominated for a best actor Oscar. I can say he deserved that nomination. The movie was heartbreaking, and I would assume paints a realistic picture of the illegal immigrant’s life in the United States…as well as painting a realistic picture of being a single parent of a teenager. Few movies bring me to tears and this one did.
Have any of you rented any good movies lately? I need to beef up my Netflix queue…
