I instantly love any bookstore I walk into. I don’t even read that much anymore, but I have tsundoku syndrome. I just enjoy acquiring books. My mom has this syndrome as well, so maybe it’s hereditary. I suspect my niece has the syndrome too. When I take them both to Barnes & Noble, I can barely keep up with them.
I’d been wanting to visit a new-ish bookstore in Boston for a while, and my friend Abby and I finally made it there a few weeks ago. I think of it as “new,” but it’s been open two years already. So as I was saying, I love all bookstores. But sometimes I visit a bookstore that makes me want to LIVE THERE.

Beacon Hill Books & Cafe is of this caliber. It helped that we went on a weeknight, so we practically had the store to ourselves. The store is so charming. It has so much character that I felt as if I were walking around on a movie set.

I had to buy a book, and I decided on Alexei Navalny’s memoir. As we checked out, we noticed a little machine that sold tiny pieces of art. Well, we couldn’t resist that. I received a drawing of a twee little bee.
I rarely visit the neighborhood where this magical shop lives, but I may start making the pilgrimage just to visit it again.
So, friends, there are only a few weeks left to 2024, and I have about six things left to accomplish on my birthday list. I’m going to London later this week (!) and I will definitely knock off a few items there. I hope you all are having a lovely holiday season with family and friends!

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this bookstore since our visit. It’s truly a place of wonderment. I definitely want to live there! And I’ll definitely be going back! Next time, we try the cafe. ❤
Yes, can’t wait to try the cafe! 🙂
