Human Rights Day

It’s Human Rights Day. It’s a day to celebrate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Even though the United States is far from perfect, at least its citizens don’t have to worry about being thrown in prison for years for exercising freedom of expression, and peacefully protesting.

Liu Xiaobo is serving 11 years in prison for daring to express pro-democracy sentiments in China. Today he is being honored with the Nobel Peace Prize. Watch this short video of the ceremony, in which his prize is laid on an empty chair.
