Over the past few years, I’ve been making my way to different local college and university art galleries and museums. This weekend I traveled to Brandeis University in Waltham to visit the Rose Art Museum. If you like modern and contemporary art, you will love this museum. It’s not too big, not too small. And the collection is diverse and wonderful. The museum itself has a fascinating history, too. So much of its works, and success, are due to generous donors. Now I fully understand why people were in an uproar in 2009, when Brandeis trustees announced its plan to sell pieces of art to make money for the school. The Rose is a gem of a museum with an important history, and none of its works should be sold off!
This is one of my favorite pieces: Nam Jun Paik’s Charlotte Moorman II.
