I went on a harbor cruise today so I could check out the tall ships and Navy ships visiting Boston this week. I also got to see the Queen Mary 2: a treat for this anglophile!
And in the spirit of the holiday, here are some quotes about freedom:
“If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.” —George Washington
“There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the mountaintop of our desires.” —Nelson Mandela
“Freedom makes a huge requirement of every human being. With freedom comes responsibility. For the person who is unwilling to grow up, the person who does not want to carry is own weight, this is a frightening prospect.” —Eleanor Roosevelt
“Freedom is nothing but a chance to be better.” —Albert Camus
“Life without liberty is like a body without spirit.” —Kahlil Gibran
thanks for posting these pictures! i (stupidly) didn’t get a chance to see the tall ships while they were docked, so now i feel a little less out of the loop. 🙂
aww, too bad you didn’t make it to see the ships.
