Human’s Best Friend

Entertainment Weekly recently published a list of “Top 50 movies you’ve never seen.” While reading the list, I was reminded of the movie Hachi: A Dog’s Tale. Being an animal lover, I had been meaning to watch it. In the Netflix queue it went.

I knew the premise of the movie before watching it, but I still bawled my eyes out. It was out of control. Knowing that it is based on a true story made me cry that much harder. I read on a message board that the original Japanese version is depressing, so I’ll be steering clear of that one.

This is a very sweet and simple film that makes me want to tightly hug my cat. She wouldn’t stand for that, but it’s a nice thought.

If I ever find myself in Tokyo, I’ll visit the statue of Hachi at Shibuya Station…
