I Want to Punch Don Draper in the Head

I am going to see the creater of Mad Men, Matthew Weiner, speak in a few weeks. So I thought it would be a good idea to do some research and Netflix Mad Men.

After watching the first three episodes, I am thanking my f’ing lucky stars that I grew up in the ’80s. I need to poll people in my parents’ generation and ask if this is an accurate portrayal of life in the ’60s. Rampant sexism, bigotry, and infidelity?? Drinking like fish and chain smoking at work? WTF! Maybe this was just in the advertising world?

So after watching the credits roll after the third episode, all I wanted to do was punch Don Draper in the head. For being a serial cheater. And for checking out of his daughter’s birthday party. I don’t care that he stumbled home late that night with a dog for her.

I hope he has some redeeming qualities underneath it all? Or is he just going to be the kind of person you love to hate?
