Woolapalooza and Aretha

I volunteered at Woolapalooza at Drumlin Farm yesterday. I froze my ass off making yarn crafts with children. But it was fun, because I had never been to Drumlin Farm (= birthday list addition), and I saw a bunch of sheep and lambies. The lambs had just been born this week.

In other birthday list news, I just listened to my new Aretha Franklin CD. Every year, I buy a random album in order to broaden my musical horizons. This year, I had a vague notion to pick a female musician, possibly a vocalist. After about 10 minutes of searching on the Internet, I discovered that Aretha Franklin is the #1 singer of all time, according to RollingStone.com. I bought her “breakthrough” album, I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You.

Her voice is incredible. And the horns and the piano….man. I need to sit and listen to it over and over and over again.

  1. i need to hear more about the sheep and lamb babies! re: aretha, any song recommendations for our wedding band? they are all about the horns!

    1. There might be a song or two for your wedding; I’ll let you know! Most of them are of the “you did me wrong/you are all wrong/you broke my heart, but I love you anyway” ilk, but I think there are a few positive ones. 🙂 The lambies were all tired and just chilling. They looked so peaceful.
