I was looking through a book catalog recently, and The Old Farmer’s Almanac caught my eye. It was on sale. I thought to myself, it might be fun to read about weather predictions…and farming tips…? I think I’ve seen the almanac before, but have never sat down and read or used one.
Almanac, say hello to the birthday list!
I received it in the mail the other day and am starting to look through it. It is wacky as hell so I love it. The weather prediction section is great. There’s an astrology section that includes the best days each month for certain acts, including having dental care, cutting hay, and weaning animals or children. There are some great recipes, tips on how to get rid of certain smells (such as fish), dates of eclipses…what a glorious hodgepodge of information. It will keep me entertained this winter.
