It’s been really hot and humid this summer. I feel like a wimp saying that, because I live in the Northeast. Most other regions of the country have it wayyyy worse.
Allen and I escaped the hot weather the other day by going to a bunch of air-conditioned stores as well as the Danforth Art Museum at Framingham State University. This museum has been on my list of to-dos; I’ve been hitting up all of the local college and university art museums that I can find.
The Danforth is a small museum. It has three large rooms and two small rooms. We practically had the museum to ourselves, which was nice. The main exhibition on view is a juried art exhibition of New England artists.

The permanent collection on view was really interesting. There were many international artists featured and many different genres of art. The Danforth also owns a collection of work of the African American sculptor Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller, who lived in the town where the museum resides.

The museum was a breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively!

I love this idea for visiting local college art museums! and so nice to have the place to yourselves, as I often get overwhelmed in larger museums and can’t really enjoy the art in peace. Any particular ones you’d recommend?
I remember enjoying the museums at Brandeis and Wellesley. I remember enjoying the Boston College museum as well, but it has since moved into a bigger space that I would like to check out. Very close to our first apartment in Brighton!
