Backstory: I grew up microwaving Superpretzel soft pretzels for a snack. I haven’t eaten them much as an adult, but once in a while I will get a hankering and bring some home. And if I need a little something at a concert or sporting event, I will often buy a soft pretzel.
So, the other night, I was half-listening to a local TV show, Chronicle. My ears perked up when I heard the words “artisanal soft pretzels.” I continued to half-listen, so I can’t relay what they actually said about the pretzels. All I retained was that the company featured was called Eastern Standard Provisions Co. and that it delivers soft pretzels. Sold!
I immediately ordered the Love at First Bite Gift Box. The box arrived in a timely manner, and I appreciated the multiple emails stating that the pretzels are made without preservatives, so they had to be eaten or frozen immediately.
With the shipping cost, the “wheelhouse” pretzels I bought came to about $5 a piece. You have to love soft pretzels to pay that much. However, I will say that the pretzels are quite good. The crust has the right amount of chewiness, and the inside is light and airy.
I won’t be buying these all the time. But, when I want to treat myself again, I will try the bites and sticks!
