Ice cream is one of my favorite foods, if I haven’t mentioned it before. So I love trying new ice cream shops. When a franchise of my hometown Abbott’s closed during the pandemic, it was a serious bummer. I got one last cone on one of its last days.
But, at some point, another ice cream shop opened in the same place! Not all was lost. Allen and I just tried the Scoop ‘n’ Scootery the other day. The company started out in ice cream delivery, and the location we visited is its first that welcomes patrons to sit and enjoy their scoops.
The number of flavors on offer is pretty impressive. I’m not usually a sundae type of gal, but there were so many amazing concoctions presented that I went for a sundae. I ordered a Banana Hammock, which featured turtle ice cream, bananas, peanut butter cups, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup. I love peanut butter and banana as well as peanut butter and chocolate, so how could I not love this sundae??
Well, slight disappointment when the staff realized that they were out of bananas. The clerk told me I could swap in something else and I froze. What other fruit goes with peanut butter cup?! When she offered up brownies, I said sure.
The verdict: Delicious. It was SO decadent. When I was about 75% done eating, the clerk slipped by and deposited a cup of sliced bananas in front of me. The fruit shipment had arrived!
Scoop ‘n’ Scootery seems to favor the peanut butter and chocolate combo, so I will be a repeat customer…
