Afternoon Tea: The Redemption Edition

I love a good afternoon tea, as I’ve mentioned before. Up until last December, I would’ve said that I had never met an afternoon tea that I didn’t like. Yes, believe it or not, I was disappointed by an afternoon tea during my most recent trip to London…but that’s all I’ll say about that.

So I am thrilled that Silver Dove Afternoon Tea redeemed this most cherished meal for me. Silver Dove is an eight-table establishment in downtown Boston. It’s “snug”…you practically share a table with your neighbors. But the tea and the food are so delightful that you quickly forget the snugness factor.

I have a thing for Lapsang Souchong, so I was happy to see it on offer. I had two pots. The food was gluten-free and inventive…and delicious. The brie and watercress sandwich with bacon and fig jam was a standout. And the basil cake was my favorite dessert. I’n not a fan of currants, but I’ve learned to like them “enough” in a scone. This currant scone was quite palatable. (The clotted cream and jam always help!)

If you are looking for something special to do with [a small party of] family and friends, this is a great option in downtown Boston!
