It’s Fall

It’s fall…I’ve accepted that it’s fall, albeit a few weeks late. This weekend, I brought out my sweaters and baked pumpkin muffins.

I’ve been baking these muffins for about 20 years. I received a muffin recipe book when I was a teen—maybe for my birthday, maybe for Christmas. The first and only recipe my family and I made were these pumpkin muffins.

I’m kicking back, eating said muffins and watching the new PBS documentary Half the Sky. It’s based on the book, which I read last year. These stories are downright shocking. Hundreds of MILLIONS of women are being oppressed around the world: being denied an education; being abused in every way, shape, and form; being sold as sex slaves—at three and four years old.

Thank you, Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn for bringing this truth to light.
