As you can imagine, it’s difficult to complete a birthday list during a pandemic. Only so many places to go and things to do. So I’ve been relying on the simpler pleasures, like new parks, new foods, new drinks…
Now I’ve had tequila before. I’m not a cocktail aficionado, but I’ve had my fair share of margaritas over the years. When I was walking through the liquor section at Wegmans recently, my eye caught George Clooney’s tequila, Casamigos. That is one brand of tequila I had not tried. Check.

I happened to have orange juice in the house around the time of the Casamigos purchase, so I decided to make a tequila sunrise. I may or may not have had a tequila sunrise before. I most certainly had not made my own before, because I had no idea what I was doing. I found a recipe online, threw the ingredients in a pint glass, and drank it down like it was juice. I used less tequila than called for because I’m a lightweight now. Next time, I’ll throw caution to the wind and try the full amount.
I can’t speak on the taste or quality of George’s tequila, since I don’t drink much tequila at all. But the drink was delightful and it sure is pretty to look at.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be dancing in my living room to the Champs’ “Tequila.”
