I’ve been eating Girl Scout cookies for the past 40 years or so, so the cookies are definitely not new to me. I still remember the trauma from having to sell them door to door when I was a kid. As an introvert, the experience was kind of painful. But I got through it, year after year. I actually kept one of my order forms, to remind myself of the accomplishment, I guess.
Anyhoo, this was the first time that I ordered from Troop 6000 in New York City. Have you heard of it? I hadn’t until I saw messages about it floating around my social media. It’s a troop of girls who live in temporary housing in the New York City shelter system. I love that this exists. I was a Brownie and a Girl Scout, and although I don’t necessarily remember details about the experience, I know that it was good for me. So I’m glad these girls in the shelter system have this opportunity.
I bought five boxes so I could get free shipping…I was sad that the Tagalong cookies were sold out. But I’m looking forward to trying the gluten-free toffee cookies and the chocolate and caramel cookies. I don’t know about you, but life is much sweeter when you know that you have a box of Thin Mints in the freezer…
