I love afternoon tea = love tea, love scones, love tiny sandwiches, love dessert.
There’s something so relaxing about the routine of having afternoon tea, too…the swirling of spoons and dropping of sugar cubes into teacups, the spreading of clotted cream on scones. No silverware is needed (besides the spoon and the spreader for the clotted cream); all of the food is dainty enough to eat with one’s fingers.
My physical therapist told me about Vintage Tea and Cake Co., after she made a comment about my London socks and we delved into a discussion about my time in England and her recent visit to London. She mentioned her recent discovery of Vintage Tea and Cake, which has three locations just outside of Boston.
So what did I do next, dear readers? I immediately told my friends who also enjoy afternoon tea that we had to try this place out. I’ve been to two of the three locations so far and will be trying the third one as soon as I can manage it.
The Arlington and Belmont locations are both tastefully decorated with flowers, tchotchkes, and vintage wall decor. The Arlington location was packed on the day that we went and the laughter and chatter were a bit deafening. The Belmont location was smaller and much quieter, with only a few occupied tables. I had two different types of Earl Grey tea and ordered the same exact food options during each time. Both the tea and food are delicious. If you like afternoon tea, I highly recommend!

The seatings are timed, which is not uncommon for afternoon tea. I did feel a bit rushed at one of the visits. However, I totally understand that if they didn’t have timed seatings, patrons such as myself would stay for four hours and drink four pots of tea.
Do you enjoy afternoon tea as well? What are your favorite things about it?
